At Shel, it is our common endeavour to elevate the level of hospitality and the experience our guests have. A one-of-a-kind place in Ladakh, Shel only takes one booking at a time thus maximising the amount of detailing that goes into any guests’ stay with us. If you are our guest, you are the only one thus the entire team works as one to ensure that your stay with us is as comfortable as being at home with the added luxury of having your own private entourage of staff to cater to your every whim.
Being located in a remote village outside the capital of Leh means uninterrupted views of the wonderful Himalayan countryside as well as peace, quiet and front row seats to the wonders of nature on a daily basis. At Shel, we feel luxury cannot be conveyed only through design, it needs to have soul and sensitivity.
Our team strives to bring the best for each guest as individuals as well as through their shared vision and connection to the land. We eat what we grow seasonally and make a lot of our consumables at home, we support our local community by purchasing produce from them, we recycle our waste and dispose of everything responsibly, we are paper and plastic free unless absolutely necessary and we do our best to alleviate the local feral dog problem by adopting and neutering the stray dogs in our vicinity.
Our shared goal is to develop tourism in Ladakh in a sustainable manner by attaching value to this model of growth. By taking small steps towards a larger picture, we hope to continue to bring purpose to what we do as a team.
