Prabha & Manoj
Brother-sister duo—Prabha and Manoj Gautam—driven by a shared love for nature and community.
Prabha Gautam began her professional life as an engineer, working on hydropower projects across Nepal. These projects took her deep into the country’s remote landscapes—rugged terrains where rivers still ran wild and communities lived in harmony with nature. While her work focused on infrastructure and energy, her heart was quietly drawn to something else: the rich tapestry of ecosystems and human stories she encountered along the way.
During these field visits, particularly in rural villages, Prabha saw the fragile beauty of Nepal’s wild spaces and began to question whether development could exist without damaging the very environments that gave life meaning. She began dreaming of a different kind of impact—one where conservation and commerce could thrive side by side.
Manoj Gautam is a Nepalese conservationist and animal rights advocate known for his fearless and community-driven approach. He grew up immersed in a close-knit community deeply connected to nature, which shaped his understanding of conservation rooted in indigenous knowledge, community psychology, and the link between livelihoods and wildlife protection. Known as the "Nomad" for his extensive travels documenting communities living alongside wildlife, Manoj uses storytelling and public speaking to highlight the social and environmental impacts of changing resource governance. His work combines scientific rigor with emotional storytelling, pioneering Human Behavior Change models in conservation. Manoj’s collaborations include work with Dr. Jane Goodall, reflecting his blend of empathy, ecological insight, and commitment to empowering local people as custodians of nature.
