Founded, owned and operated by James Hudson, a UK native who made Australia his home, Blackbird Byron is the culmination of a dream born from his love of nature and a desire to create a haven of tranquillity for everyone to enjoy.
The name Blackbird was conceived after a flock of native black cockatoos flew over the land when the Hudsons were raising their glasses for a toast to celebrate settling the property.
At the same time Blackbird by The Beatles was playing. They took it as sign and the rest is history.
Blackbird is a testament to James’ love for this land and his desire to offer guests an escape experience like no other. A private piece of land where the worries of the world fade away and where you can fully embrace the beauty of nature and the true essence of the Byron Hinterland.
