With a spirit of curiosity, hospitality, and a desire to share and connect, these children of Mai Chau have made remarkable progress since their early days with Avana. In 2021, when our resort began welcoming its first guests, our hosts also embarked on a journey to become competent in the hospitality industry.
Coming from the ethnic Thai and Muong communities in the villages surrounding Avana, our hosts grew up alongside majestic mountains and expansive rice fields. The challenging and isolated geography made their material lives somewhat lacking, but it also shaped them into honest, friendly and hardworking individuals. Thanks to them joining the Avana team, the positive values of mountain village life have been brought closer to the hearts of visitors from near and far.
Guided by a commitment to sustainable tourism, our hosts bring back the skills and knowledge they’ve gained through their training and work at Avana, along with their new income, to enhance the quality of life in their communities and to preserve and promote the distinct cultural heritage of their ethnicity. Whenever you wish to learn more about the beautiful Mai Chau region, engage directly with our hosts, as it is their greatest joy in their work.
“Act first, think later” was what our founders had in mind when they decided to acquire this 15-hectare area. Although they had no real vision of what they wanted to do with it, they knew that somehow they wanted to preserve the natural beauty and local heritage from the kind of mass-tourism development that has overrun other beautiful, natural spots in Vietnam.
