Our family found the island fascinating, both for its location in Vietnam, where there aren't many beach islands that others can name, and for its dramatic history and legends. It has so much potential to develop as a luxury destination with a limited number of boutique resorts.

Unlike the other remote islands of Vietnam, the island's infrastructure is quite established. The first time we were there, we felt like we were back in the early 1980s, when the streets were quiet even during the day. You hardly hear any engine sounds; daily life is slow and peaceful.

Besides, my father had many fond memories of the island. He was a prisoner in Con Dao during the war, and he wanted to express his thanks to the island as best he could.
