After years of studying abroad, Philip and Margarida knew their life’s project was to return to the Alentejo and promote Herdade da Maroteira, a property that has been in the family for more than six generations. This 330-acre estate was originally dedicated to cork and cattle production, right up to the present day.
Today, the property includes vineyards that produce internationally acclaimed wines, which you can taste. The wonderful location offers the opportunity to do numerous activities that will bring you closer to nature. This is the way we should live every day: relaxing peacefully in harmony with the environment and meeting authentic country people.
Corktrekking is an unmissable opportunity to discover the Alentejo and its beauty. There are jeep and walking tours, wine tastings, and a strong commitment to sustainability. “We don’t just do this for ourselves,” they say.
