Every summer Mateo’s family would go to Andros Island for vacation in a beautiful old family house. Coming with friends for years after solidified his love for the island, growing deeper with each visit. The place had an amazing beach with huge fields, gurgling ponds, and waterfalls – it was just something exceptional.
When he decided to move back to Greece, he knew that he had to find his own special piece of land on which to build a farm. He wanted to use natural materials to build with and only create a few structures on the land. When he started looking for the right place to make his dream come true, Andros was the first place in his mind.
He offers guests a taste of the simple life, reminiscent of his cherished childhood memories. Onar embraces nature in a secluded setting, offering a truly laid-back experience. In this amazing, unspoiled location on Andros, the land is the same as it was 200 years ago because it’s a protected national park for the wetlands, rare animals and plants that live there. Mateo tries to make guests feel as if they are his friends staying at his home. It’s a small retreat with only a few people there at one time. Many people come back again the next year together with the friends they made here.
