Burhan Wilderness Camps
Nestled in the heart of the Khata Wildlife Corridor in Bardiya, southwest Nepal, Burhan Wilderness Camps was born out of a deep commitment to conservation. When Prabha Gautam and Manoj Gautam first came across this vital stretch of land, they learned it was on the verge of being acquired by a large hotel chain—a move that threatened to disrupt the fragile ecosystem that countless wild animals and native flora depend on. Driven by a sense of urgency and responsibility, the sister-brother duo stepped in to protect the corridor, securing it before development could encroach upon its natural integrity.
Today, Burhan Wilderness Camps is run by a team of passionate conservationists operating in a micro-conservancy model. Guided by the founding principle of “leaving no footprint,” the camp minimizes its impact on the land by using temporary structures—tents are only set up when guests are present, allowing the landscape to remain wild and untouched the rest of the time. More than just a place to stay, Burhan is a living commitment to preserving Nepal’s wilderness, offering guests a rare opportunity to experience nature in its purest form.
